PRESIDENT'S CORNER

BIO: MS. JANICE SMITH
Founded the CASOE organization in 2004, after spending 15`years in middle management working for nonprofits. Born in Detroit, MI, raised by a single father who engaged his children intellectually and loved them unconditionally.  Her childhood was marked by years spent in foster care, destructive behaviors in adolescence and early adulthood and a private and painstaking search to know God. She embraced a spiritual way of life that would eventually lead to finding meaning and purpose. She received her BA from the University of Michigan and her Master of Management from the Univesity of Phoenix.

She taught writing classes at Renaissance University offering training for novice and accomplished writers. Her plays include; Catch the Wind, Ain't Nobody Stoppin' This Train, A Dream that Never Sleeps, Long Way from Annable St. and more.  "I know what it's like to feel alone, lost and misunderstood, needing a place to belong. It is from this knowledge and difficult experiences that I sought to build the CASOE. I pray that my life demonstrates my great love for humanity and my understanding of the kinship of all people throughout this world.
A DREAM THAT NEVER SLEEPS
One by one theater goers attend this show without suspecting its power to grip the heart. The intelligent mixture of theater and dance provides the rich ingredients for these flamboyant and troubled characters to take the stage. Found in the storyline is the undisputable truth that love and forgiveness provide the foundation for redemption. The issue of youth violence is presented in this production in such a manner that change is inevitable. The production was made possible by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the City of Detroit Recreation Department.

 MEETING JESUS AT 3PM
The CASOE Youth Theater has 'exploded' onto the stage of local churches with this rich and hilarious production. John Amos Wimberley and his beloved wife of fifty years, Sarah, will steal your hearts as they serve the Lord. In a simple and almost childlike innocent John Amos sets out to meet Jesus at the railroad station. He is certain that he received a revelation from the Lord and he is determined to be on time for his appointment. Follow his journey and meet some of the good church folk of St. Matthews whom you will come to love. Be prepared to laugh right out of your seat as your heart is uplifted. Production dates, time and venue will be announced soon.
