A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:
I am delighted to report that we are positioning the CASOE for a wonderful 2010 with visually spectacular stage productions, meaningful communities intiatives and dynamic educational workshops. Our theme for this year is DARE TO DREAM, DARE TO DANCE. This idea suggests that we will challenge (dare) ourselves to think about the unlimited possibilities (dream) for CASOE and be in joyful movement (dance) as we build a castle in the city of Detroit. We are excited about 2010.
It is my sincere hope that you will get to know our CASOE membership and the management team responsible for implementing strategies to bring 'progressive' programming to the community. Our organization remains steadfast in its resolve to bring thought provoking, inspirational productions to Metro Detroit audiences and offer training sessions to develop the creative abilities of young people in our communities. We are focused on our mission, Creating Hope, Transforming Communities.
I believe in the CASOE and know that our work is meaningful as we point young people towards a higher vision of who they can become and what they will achieve. I'm confident that all that is needed to achieve any goal is always available provided we are willing to work hard, ask for help, persevere and believe. I'm committed to building a 'castle' in the city of Detroit which will be an artistic oasis for young people in which to cultivate their natural abilities. I believe in excellence as a standard in which to govern my own work and the efforts of the CASOE. Therefore, I commit to living our CASOE motto....

PRESIDENT'S BIO
Ms. Janice Smith is an energetic visionary who founded the CASOE in 2004. She is a playwright, creative writing instructor and experienced businesswoman. Ms. Smith is a graduate of the University of Michigan and has a Master of Management degree from the University of Phoenix. A native Detroiter, Ms. Smith was raised by her father in a single family household where she enjoyed stimulating conversation, games that challenged her intellect and siblings who shared their love. She has spent her professional career in middle management and has developed the competencies to transform CASOE into a world class performing arts and training institute. A deeply spiritual woman, Ms. Smith lives her life in service to others, understanding her responsiblity to leave this world a little better than how she found it. "May my life be a demonstration of my love for humanity."
